#BLURAY: Scream Factory Resurrects Blacula In March 2015

Blacula-Bluray-Shout-Factory-William-Marshall-HGG
The good people at Shout Factory’s horror cult/horror line, Scream Factory, have announced that this March, Blacula will once again rise. Blacula and its sequel Scream Blacula, Scream are finally coming to blu-ray. The classic Blaxploitation films star William Marshall in the iconic role as Prince Mamuwalde, a vampire in modern day (70’s at the time) Los Angeles in search of blood.

Scream Blacula, Scream also features one of my favorite actress Pam Grier. So this is a must buy for me all around AND I finally get to replace those MGM DVDs. Box cover art work below:

#HORROR: Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut To Be Screened In LA With Clive Barker

Nightbreed, Clive Barker, The Cabal Cut, Egyptian Theatre, Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut, Horror, Extended, Uncut, Hollywood, Beyond-Fest
How big of a horror fan are you? Then if you are in L.A. the only place you want to be on October 26th is at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood for Beyond Fest as special screening of the legendary version of Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut will take place.

What is “The Cabal Cut”? Apparently, the theatrically released version of Nightbreed was an extremely butchered cut of the film that Clive directed. The Cabal Cut of the films reinserts all the missing pieces, 45min worth. Yes, 45 MINUTES.

After the screening of the movie, Director Clive Barker and Producer Mark Miller will be on hand to discuss the films and the journey to finally bring the proper version of the movie to light.

Also in the Egyptian Courtyard there will be a post film “Monster’s Ball” with music courtesy of Death Waltz Records.

Part of Beyond-Fest, Tickets are $20, which is a steal if you want to experience this epic. I already secured a ticket and will be there for the night’s festivities.

#EVENT: Celebrate the Anniversary of Halloween At 35 Years of Terror Convention In Pasadena

Halloween, Michael Myers, Franchise, Horror, 35 Years of Terror, Fan Event, PJ Soles, Nick Castle, Dick Warlock, Tom Atkins, Danielle Harris, Don Shanks, Tyler Mane, Ken Foree

It’s been 35 years since Michael Myers stared terrorizing Haddonfield in his Bill Shatner mask, and this November he comes home - to Pasadena. 35 Years of Terror celebrates the Halloween franchise in the town where most of the original moves was filmed.

The convention runs November 15th - 17th, 2013 and takes place at the Pasadena Convention Center located at 300 East Green Street. At this time no events are yet listed on the site, but plenty of guests are. PJ Soles (“See anything you like”), Nick Castle, Dick Warlock, Tom Atkins, Danielle Harris, Don Shanks, Tyler Mane, Ken Foree and so many others from the series are set to attend.

I actually went to the 30 Years of Terror con and had a great time. If I can dig them up, I’ll post pictures I took from the event. Met a lot of the Halloween alumni, saw some great props on display; I really recommend going.

Ticket and other info can be found on the show’s official site, right here.

To get you in the mood, pick the newly released Halloween 35th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray from Anchor Bay. It just debuted last week and has some very nifty new bonus features including commentary from John Carpenter and Jamie Lee Curtis. That can be bought here.

#DVD: Warner Archive Resurrects Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell!

Tanya Tate, @TanyaTate, Hammer Films, Hammer Horror, Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell, Frankenstein, Peter Cushing, Madeline Smith, David Prowse, Horror, DVD, Made of Demand, Made To Order, WAC, Warner Archive Collection, Hammer Glamour
Hello Hellions,

Here is something really cool. The problem with some of these Hammer Films is that they occasionally go out of print. Then, I have seen the prices on some of them skyrocket, especially the Anchor Bay releases. The currently out of print Paramount DVD release of Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell is one such title that went ‘OOP’.

However, the brilliant people at Warner Archive Collection have resurrected this film and  recently brought it back to DVD via their “Manufacturing on Demand” program. It’s a great way to give life to smaller titles that do not command a huge print run. I Have several WAC titles in my collection, like the Wonder Woman 1974 movie and Superboy Season 2.

Tanya Tate, @TanyaTate, Hammer Films, Hammer Horror, Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell, Frankenstein, Peter Cushing, Madeline Smith, David Prowse, Horror, DVD, Made of Demand, Made To Order, WAC, Warner Archive Collection, Hammer GlamourSo to see Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell back in print is amazing. It’s an awesome entry in Hammer’s Frankenstein series. Featuring Peter Cushing and the beautiful Madeline Smith, it’s one of my fav Hammer films.

Synopsis: Baron Frankenstein is dead, right? That's precisely what he wants folks to think. He's had it up to here with a public that doesn't appreciate the trouble a mad scientist goes through to snatch good body parts. To carry on his work, he holes up in a place where the possibilities are utterly maddening: a home for the criminally insane. A hand here. A brain there. True to form, the Baron (Peter Cushing) keeps his gruesome creation (David Prowse, widely known for his later portrayals of Darth Vader) in stitches in this sixth and final frightfest in Hammer Films' Frankenstein cycle.

The Frankenstein And The Monster From Hell release also includes commentary by Madeline Smith, David Prowse and historian Jonathan Sothcott.

If you missed it the first time it was on disc, make sure you add this fun Hammer classic to your collection!

Stay Scared,
Tanya Tate

And don’t forget to enjoy the lovely Madeline Smith. Mmm.... Hammer Glamour!

The Walking Dead, TWD, Season 3, S3, Limited, Collector’s Edition, Blu-ray, AMC, Zombies, Horror, August 27th, Home Media, Box Set, Fish Tank, The Governor, Walkers

Fan of The Walking Dead? Then I probably don’t have to remind you that Season 3 makes its home video debut today. What you might not know is that there is a limited collector’s edition available from the fine folks at Anchor Bay.

Based on The Governor’s zombie head aquarium that was seen in the show, this 5-Disc Set is one of the most incredible home media presentations I have seen in awhile.

Five very horrific zombies heads can be placed inside a “fish tanks”, which can actually be filled with water! With a simple push of a button the tanks light up, making a perfect display piece for your zombie collection. As a matter of fact why don’t we take a look at this video:

The Walking Dead Season 3 limited collector’s edition blu-ray box set is available now and can be ordered from Amazon.
The Walking Dead, TWD, Season 3, S3, Limited, Collector’s Edition, Blu-ray, AMC, Zombies, Horror, August 27th, Home Media, Box Set, Fish Tank, The Governor, Walkers

The Walking Dead has a tradition of releasing their series sets in limited collector’s editions. Season One came with an awesome wearable zombie mask while Season Two made was housed inside a zombie head.

If you missed out on these, you can still get your hands on them to add to your horror collection.

VIDEO: Chucky’s Back In The Trailer For Curse of Chucky!

Chucky, Child’s Play, Universal, Direct To Video, Blu-ray, Brad Dourif, Fiona Dourif, Curse of Chucky, Don Mancini, Danielle Bisutti, Franchise, exclusive, blood, dolls

Proving you can’t keep a good doll down, the knife wielding wise-cracker is back to cause more horrific mayhem. Chucky, the star of the Child’s Play franchise returns in a new installment of the series directed by creator Don Mancini.

Take a look at the Curse of Chucky trailer, that was just released:

He's back! From the filmmakers that brought you Chucky comes the terrifying return of the pint-sized doll possessed by the spirit of a notorious serial killer. When a mysterious package arrives at the house of Nica (Fiona Dourif, True Blood), she doesn't give it much thought. However, after her mother's mysterious death, Nica begins to suspect that the talking, red-haired doll her visiting niece has been playing with may be the key to the ensuing bloodshed and chaos. The return of America's favorite toy, voiced again by Brad Dourif, is unrated and full of more blood-splattered thrills and chills.

The tone of Curse of Chucky looks more straight forward horror than the last few installments of the Child’s Play series (though I did dig them). That could go either way. I mean, a menacing doll is a tough pill to swallow, but I have bought into the franchise since ’88. So, I’m willing to give this a try.

Curse of Chucky will be a direct-to-video Blu-Ray release with a street date of October 8th, 2013.

What do you think? Does Chucky have what it takes to bring back the screams? Or has this doll seen his day? Drop a comment and let me know what you have to say.
