J.K. Simmons, the actor who famously portrayed J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Rami’s Spider-man trilogy, responds to the news regarding a budding petition by fans wanting to see him return to the role in the upcoming franchise reboot.
While at the Film Independent Spirit Awards Entertainment Tonight caught up with the actor and asked him about the petition. The 61-year-old actor took the news with a grain of salt by noting "That petition does not come from anybody that is actually in a position to do anything about it.” However, Simmons also said "Being in those movies with Sam was one of the great joys of my career," and "It was a super fun character so I'll never close the door on anything."

So far the petition has attained 2,249 signatures. Not a bad show of support. But, will we ever see him as the iconic editor of the Daily Bugle ever again? Probably not. But never say never.
