Are you planning on picking up the latest DC animated movie Son of Batman? It drops on home media next week, May 6th. But before you rush out to buy it, here are a couple of different exclusives that might interest you.
If you go to Best Buy you have the option of picking up a version with an exclusive Deathstroke figure. I personally avoid going to Best Buy. (And to be honest, being a regular Amazon customer, has made that extremely easy) I think the only time I’ve gone into Best Buy the last couple of years was to pick up these DC Animated exclusives.
I tried to be smart one time and order it online, but the box came crushed. Ah, good ol’ Best Buy.
Anyway, Best Buy’s Son of Batman comes with an exclusive Deathstroke figurine. Now, I used to be all about these exclusives, my wife still loves them. We have virtually every one going back a few years (I think the earliest one I have is the Wonder Woman animated movie on DVD with a exclusive “action figure”) but I have really lost interest in continuing to get these, especially in light of the Target exclusive (see below).
These “figurines” are a small figure with either 3 point or no articulation. Usually a couple of inches tall. Sculpt and paint quality vary from release to release. Unless you are really into the character, they are not all that exciting.
On the other hand, Target has an exclusive steelbook version of Son of Batman. Personally, I am leaning this way. The last exclusive DC animated movie, Justice League War, was also made available in a steelbook from Target and I was pleasantly surprised how well it came out. The art really popped and I was dug it. This is my recommendation.
The only thing I would note, is choose carefully on your steelbook. I thought I did when I picked up Justice League War, but when I took it out of the package it had a small ding on it.
How are you going to roll? Exclusive figure or steelbook? Or neither? Drop a comment below and LMK know
