When I wrote the post about the different exclusives that would be available for WB/DC Entertainment’s new animated movie, Son of Batman, I had an idea which one I was looking to pick up. I went for the Target Exclusive Steelbook packaging. This is a review of the packaging, not the movie or the bonus features it may contain. So, let’s check out the pictures.
For someone reason I was not all charged up for this release as I had been in the past. The Justice League: War animated movie was something of a disappointment for me, especially coming off the amazing Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, so that may have killed some momentum.
When it came time for the release of Son of Batman, it wasn’t a “Day One” buy for me. I knew that I might miss out on the exclusive if I waited too long. Quantities on an exclusive like this are limited and in the past I made sure I was in the store within the first hour of it opening.
Fortunately for me, when Thursday rolled around I made my way to my local Target and was able to acquire one of the three Steelbook copies left.
The cover looks sharp with Batman and Damian flying across the Gotham skies, looking to take on the Man-Bats that can be seen in the background.
Inside, you get the same artwork as the back spread across both sides with Batman on the left and Deathstroke on the right.
My only complaint is that I would have liked some raised texture. But that is the only thing I can think of. Justice League: War Steelbook had more of a mettalic printing, I kinda like the one on Son Of Batman better.
The Steelbook looks really nice. They did a great job with it. I think the art work from the last few animated movie releases have been awesome and this one continues the trend. Check out the side by side with the last Steelbook - Justice League: War.
As we are almost a week out of release, these are going to start getting hard to find. So, if you are in to Steelbooks and you can find it, grab yourself a copy of Son of Batman.
