Peter Cushing is back battling the undead in this classic Hammer vampire flick courtesy of the Alex Theater.
I am always excited to see a hammer movie getting some love. Just in time for Halloween, a classic Hammer film is going to be seen on the big screen. The Brides of Dracula will be showing on October 26 at the Alex theater in Glendale.
The showing is part of the Alex Film Society Halloween Event which includes full-length stage production of "Hollywood Scares!" a classic, "all ghoul" send-up of the long-running Hollywood Squares quiz show.
The unforgettable Bugs Bunny animated short A Witch's Tangled Hare will also be screened.
In the middle of it all, writer, actor and stand-up comedian Dana Gould be on hand to offer an evening of challenging classic horror trivia and irreverent humor.
The main event though is the presentation of The Brides of Dracula. Directed by Terence Fisher the movie stars Peter Cushing, Yvonne Monlaur, Michael Ripper, Martita Hunt and David Peel as Baron Meinster, a disciple of Count Dracula. Cushing returns to the role of Doctor Van Helsing in this sequel to the smash hit Dracula (or Horror of Dracula for us US crowd.)

While I am fully aware that a lot of these old Hammer movies are readily available to either be streamed or bought on Amazon, it's always cool to see them the way they were meant to be seen; on the big screen with a crowd of people. Go check this out if you're in the LA area.
